In this week's webcast, we presented data from our ongoing research into embedded processor and SoC market segments. Our research shows that the market is being driven by more than just size, weight and power (SWaP) reduction requirements. A number of acute technical and functional requirements are also driving embedded system developers to accelerate their investigation of, and in some cases migration to, SoC and alternative embedded processing platforms:
- Power and thermal management
- Memory capacity, access and stability
- Parallel processing
- Extremes in I/O performance and diversity
- Strict demands for hard, flexible security
The embedded market has returned to an extraordinary level of cost/price pressure and sensitivity, perhaps more than it has in the last 15 years. Yet performance requirements remain unforgiving, and we expect this to continue unabated over the next 3-5 years.
For more details on our thoughts and to see some preliminary findings about the embedded processor and SoC market segments, we encourage you to listen to the webcast recording and scroll through the slides below.
