If you are thinking about exhibiting your industrial products at a trade show where you might have previously cut back your participation, we see some clear signs that attendance is coming back. Why do we say this? In January of 2010, we conducted a survey for position sensing. In that survey, ~37% of respondents indicated the likelihood of attending one. Later that year, another study conducted for power protection found that metric down to ~13%. In our most recent survey that is still open, the initial tabulation shows the percentage of likely trade show attendees is now at 46% which we feel has positive connotations for the market for industrial products and services of all types.
We also have correlating qualitative information from one of our IAC team members that just got back from the Hannover Messe trade show. Bob Perugini reported that the attendance level ‘was overflowing and everyone he spoke with agreed about the improvement over the last couple of years and that it even seemed to have met or even exceeded the previous peak attendance seen in 2008.' Bob was busy talking to many of the suppliers we interact with and sell to so he was unable to get an exact count but the end of show report supports his and our conclusions.
